Jessie & Katey

The stairs up to St. Nicholas Church are illuminated by a colorful work of art in different geometric shapes that carry the steps between different ages. You probably can't help but be happy when you see this fantastic staircase!

The stairs leading up to St. Nicholas Church light up – almost lift up – with new energy. The colourful work, with dramatic geometric shapes, literally carries the steps between different ages. The artist duo Jessie & Katey bring a breath of the future to the church environment that has roots leading all the way back to the 13th century.

Jessie & Katey are convinced that the surroundings affect our emotions and moods. With their artworks, they aim to transform humble, neglected public spaces into attractions for effervescent vibrancy and playfulness. Jessie Unterhalter and Katey Truhn both come from Baltimore, Maryland in the United States. Each of their works is unique and designed in respectful relation to the site, just as at OpenArt.
